Chargebacks
What is a chargeback in medicine?
A chargeback occurs when a patient makes a complaint with their bank, claiming that a charge was not authorized, is for an incorrect amount, or that the goods or services paid for were not delivered.
HIPAA allows a covered entity or business associate to disclose information needed to seek payment for health care services. However, information disclosed must be kept to a minimum, and any reasonable request for confidential communication should be honored.
Company’s credit card processors have a written agreement and through credit card issuers; company will respond to every charge back from the patient. Such a cost will be borne by the patient. The company will charge an additional $75.00 for each chargeback initiated by the patient.
Insufficient Funds by Check
The company will charge $55.00 for insufficient funds check.
